So starts the Financial Times article featuring my new book ‘Purpose & Impact: How Executives are Creating Meaningful Second Careers’.
The message of the book and article is that all of us need to learn career development skills. When the ‘big transitions’ arrive, we then already understand how we can relatively rapidly pivot to a new area, without the cataclysmic ‘cliff-edge’ exit and its accompanying loss of identity and self- confidence.
